Washington, DC – As thousands of DC area residents continue to struggle to navigate employment amid the workforce transformation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Goodwill of Greater Washington’s (Goodwill) mission to provide free job training, education, and employment services to people with disabilities and disadvantages has rapidly increased in importance.
Goodwill’s workforce development team has been working harder than ever to meet the evolving needs of job seekers by pivoting from live training and education to virtual training and education. This effort has been a monumental shift but one that will position Goodwill to better serve the members of our community most in need.
Each September, states across the country join efforts to recognize the contributions of workforce professionals and highlight events and initiatives which support job seekers and employers. The National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) is the national advocacy organization representing all 50 state workforce agencies, D.C. and U.S. territories and is a proud partner of this annual tradition.
Please join Goodwill as we celebrate our workforce development professionals who are on the front lines of helping people get back to work in order to support themselves and their families. Along with workforce development professionals from around the country, they are making an impactful and sustainable difference in people’s lives every day.
Show your support by visiting Goodwill’s Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram channels throughout September and sharing some encouraging words. You can also make a direct financial gift to Goodwill by visiting https://dcgoodwill.org/donation/give-online/.
