When you make a gift to Goodwill, you are impacting entire families like Dakota and Jason – two Goodwill graduates and newlyweds.

Dakota graduated from Goodwill’s Security & Protective Services Program in 2015. She had worked as a medical supply technician and the new career opportunities after graduation made such an impact that she encouraged Jason to look into Goodwill.

Jason was working part-time at a grocery store but dreamed of building a better life for his family. He also enrolled in the security program and graduated at the top of his class.

“When I started the class, my goal was to succeed – and that I have done,” Jason said about the security program offered at no cost to students. “Goodwill gave me the training, tools and certification to achieve my goals.”

With the help of Goodwill’s job placement team, Jason and Dakota both obtained full-time security positions.

Now they’re able to focus on making their dreams as a family come true. This includes celebrating their first Thanksgiving in the home they bought in August.

“Goodwill is like a part of my family,” Dakota said. “They look for ways to help you that go above and beyond. We wouldn’t be where we are today without that program.”
