Goodwill of Greater Washington’s (Goodwill) President and CEO, Catherine Meloy, is pleased to announce that Kent Sneed has been promoted to the newly created role of Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Kent joined Goodwill of Greater Washington as Senior Development Officer for Business Development. In this role he was responsible for planning and leading a comprehensive corporate relations program to generate revenue and resources for Goodwill. Kent has had many accomplishments in this position as he increased the nonprofit agency’s reach and community impact by helping Goodwill partner with organizations such as the Capital Area Food Bank, MGM, and Comcast. Kent was also a part of the committee that wrote Goodwill’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion Mission Statement. It was during this time that Kent’s interest and his commitment to DEI and creating an inclusive workplace became evident.
Before coming to Goodwill, Kent held various development and programmatic positions. He served as District Director for Boy Scouts of America and served as Director, Partnerships and Development for Junior Achievement. Kent grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Ohio Northern University. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and is a proud alumnus of the immersive internship program at The Washington Center. Kent is also dedicated to supporting underprivileged youth and social justice initiatives. He volunteers as a mentor for Capital Partners for Education and serves as Co-Chair for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Race and Discrimination Task Force.
Kent will report to Judy Adams, Chief People and Culture Officer, who said this about Kent, “Kent’s skills, temperament, and his clear passion for issues of social justice and DEI make him the right leader to be Goodwill of Greater Washington’s first Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. As we move forward on enhancing our RISE culture through a strong, deliberate and dedicated focus on DEI, Kent will have the support from the entire organization. We all look forward to traveling this journey alongside Kent”
