Goodwill Goes Virtual With Online Workshops And Workforce Training
At Goodwill, we believe in the power of work. We know it means more than a job. It means the opportunity to build a better life for your family, become part of a community and contribute to make our home in the DMV stronger.
As the number of people unemployed in our community grows, so does the need for services we provide. Goodwill has pivoted quickly to adjust to the needs of delivering our mission programs in a new virtual way. As a part of this new path:
- GGW launched a Virtual Career Center to offer online training and coaching that helps job seekers build their resumes, interview skills and online networking to find sustainable employment. We’re also providing workshops on dealing with stress, finances and building connections during this difficult time. Here’s what one of our participants had to say:
“Discovered why I bombed my last interview – didn’t think like an employer, didn’t have good stories or examples in the SAR method (Situation, action, result), didn’t have follow-up questions. No, I would not have hired me. Now I know and I can and will do better!”
- On May 1, we piloted a new 12-week Healthcare training program in partnership with MedCerts. Participants can earn their Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) certification, a highly sought after industry credential. All participants receive the laptops and technology needed for virtual learning and Goodwill will offer Professional and Career Readiness preparation via online workshops.
