Celebrating Essential Workers & Job Opportunities for People

On October 2, Goodwill honored more than 200 of our own associates on National Custodial Worker’s Day. We cannot express our immense gratitude for the essential work of custodians who keep buildings clean and sanitized so people can stay safe and healthy. Their work has taken on added importance during the pandemic. They truly are the hidden heroes in our workplace.

The vital work of the daily operations and services that we provide to 12 sites across our region – many of them government facilities- reflects Goodwill’s mission to provide opportunity through employment.

People with significant disabilities perform nearly 80 percent of the work at our contract sites.

At Goodwill, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to earn a living wage, and experience dignity and independence through employment.

National Custodial Worker’s Day also coincides with National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) in October. NDEAM marks its 75th anniversary encouraging organizations to hire people with disabilities, and highlights their achievements and contributions to our workforce.
