WASHINGTON — Goodwill® of Greater Washington (Goodwill) will be opening a new Donation Express location at 10855 Fairfax Boulevard in Fairfax, VA on Monday, December 22nd.
This will be the fifth Donation Express location operated by Goodwill of Greater Washington, with two in Arlington, VA, one in Herndon, VA, and another in Gaithersburg, MD.
Goodwill also operates a store and donation center at 9960 Main Street in Fairfax. The nonprofit agency is excited to offer Fairfax residents another destination to donate apparel and household goods that have outgrown their homes. Every donation to Goodwill helps fund jobs, job training, and educational services for people facing barriers to employment right here in the DMV.
“Goodwill of Greater Washington is proud to be adding our first Donation Express in the city of Fairfax to help fund our nonprofit mission”, said Brendan Hurley, Goodwill of Greater Washington Chief Marketing Officer. “94 cents out of every dollar we earn from the sale of generously donated goods goes towards our education and employment services, so every item donated to Goodwill will have a positive and measurable impact on our local community.”
In addition to jobs and job training opportunities, Goodwill operates a free adult charter high school called The Goodwill Excel Center, as well as an ecommerce operation, and nine government contract sites that employ people with differing abilities.
Donor support for Goodwill is also good for the planet by reducing the amount of material sent to our local landfills through the operation of a sustainability center that recycles plastic, glass, cardboard, books, computers, and one day - textiles. In 2024 Goodwill of Greater Washington resold, repurposed, or recycled almost 49 million pounds of material goods.
Hours of operation for the new Donation Express location will be 10:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Saturday, and 10:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday.
