We are all smack dab in the middle of the gift-giving (and gift-getting) season. Giving tangible presents or unique experiences can bring joy to the ones we love. However, giving the gift of your donated household goods to Goodwill is the gift that keeps on giving.
Wait, you may be thinking – donating my stuff to Goodwill is a gift? Yes, because you are providing the funding that can (and does) alter lives in our community.
Let us explain. As you may know, Goodwill of Greater Washington is a nonprofit organization that transforms lives and communities right here in the DMV. Here’s how that works. After we process your donated household items, we place them in our retail stores. The revenue these sales generate provides job training, education, and employment services to people with disabilities or other barriers to employment.
We help your neighbors start careers. This empowers them to lead productive lives that not only raises their self-esteem but add to the growth of our communities. Your donations also enable thousands in our community to earn their high school diploma and, often, continue their education at a higher level.
It is easy to think that when you drop off your stuff at a Goodwill donation center, you’re just “cleaning house”. In reality, you are transforming a life. The same holds true when you shop at our retail locations.
We could go on and on about how donations make a difference…and we do.
Goodwill of Greater Washington is a caring, community nonprofit. Thanks to your generosity and donations, we are able to fulfill our mission of transforming lives and communities.
At this joyous time of year, we simply say: Thank You. Here’s hoping the spirit of the season fills you with delight.
