Computer Recycling Program
Goodwill of Greater Washington and Dell Reconnect
Goodwill of Greater Washington is an approved non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organization (Federal Tax ID: 53-0196588). Our mission is to transform lives and communities through the power of education and employment.
Goodwill of Greater Washington and Dell Reconnect, offer consumers free recycling for any brand of computer equipment in any condition. The program’s goals are to divert over 2.7 million pounds of used computers and computer equipment from area landfills over the next year; and provide consumer education on the importance of environmentally-responsible computer disposal.
Dell has made it easy for you to recycle your used computer equipment through Dell Reconnect, in collaboration with Goodwill Industries. Simply take your old computer equipment of any brand, working or not, to one of Goodwill’s over 2,000 participating locations in the United States or Canada, and we’ll make sure your system and accessories are refurbished or recycled responsibly.
Helping Create Job Opportunities
Reconnect can also help create job opportunities for individuals who have barriers to employment or independence. Some systems in working condition are refurbished and resold through Goodwill, creating green jobs to further support Goodwill’s mission of helping people with disabilities and disadvantages by providing education, training and career services. In addition, this program allows Goodwill customers to purchase modern technology at an affordable cost.
Whatever parts cannot be reused or refurbished will be broken down securely and recycled responsibly, meeting Dell’s extensive and strict Electronic Disposition Policy.
